1. Background and purpose
Migraine is a common disease with a prevalence rate of 3-25%. Because it can lower the quality of life of the patient ultimately, treatments and prevention are important. Although many kinds of Korean medicine treatments for migraine have been commonly used in Korean medicinal clinical field, a clinical practice guideline has not been developed until now. We developed a clinical practice guideline (CPG) for the Korean medicine treatments through systematic review. the purpose of this clinical guideline is to provide effective and standardized cares for migraine patients, and to support Korean medicinal physicians to treat migraine patients in Korea.
2. Overview of disease
Migraine diagnosed by ICHD-3 is a chronic primary headache disorder and is also considered as Byeon-du-tong(邊頭痛), Du-pyeon-tong(頭偏痛), Pyeon-du-pung(偏頭風), Pyeon-du-tong(偏頭痛) or Du-pung(頭風) in Korean medicine, bacause they commonly show that episodes affect one half of the head, and the headache is severe, recurrent and pulsating.
