1. Background and Purpose
Tension Type Headache is a very common disease. And as of 2019, relatively many patients with tension type headache used Korean medicine clinics & hospitals so that 102,483 people receive treatment, but clinical guidelines for the treatment of tension type headache have not been prepared sufficiently. Therefore, the Development Committee for Standard Korean Medicine Clinical Guidelines agrees with the necessity of preparing the Standard Korean Medicine Clinical Guidelines for tension type headache and publishes this Clinical Guideline. This Clinical Guideline was developed with aiming to help practitioners make more objective decisions by providing the best accessible evidence at the time of its development.
2. Overview of Disease
Headache is the most common neurological symptom experienced by doctors in the clinical field. Tension headache is the most common disease among the subtypes of primary headache, with a 78% of lifetime prevalence, and 1.7~4% of adults worldwide experience a chronic tension type headache for 15 days per month or more. Medication is used as a Western-style treatment, and in Oriental medicine, acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine treatment, herbal acupuncture treatment, and Chuna are performed to help rapid recovery.
