Information on the sales

What is a library?

A combined unit of natural product that has been prepared at a certain density and dimensions so that the high purity natural products from the Natural Products Bank can be used in searching for activities.

The dimensions and composition of a library

  • Dimension : 96-well plate, 80 natural products,1㎎/㎖ each, DMSO 20㎕
    • Composition : LBP0004-0015, a total of 12 types of plates, with 960 species of natural products (as of December 2020)

Purpose of sale

  • A library is prepared in a certain density and dimensions so that the natural products secured from the Natural products Bank can be used in searching HTS activities. They are sold for R&D purposes related to natural products only and cannot be sold for other commercial purposes.

01Submission and reception of a sales application
  • The person who wishes to purchase a library must submit an application form for library sales and a written plan on how the library, which is sold free of charge, is to be utilized using the forms and templates of the National Products Bank.
  • The library shall be, in principle, sold free of charge for searching activities for joint development.
02Review of sales
  • Based on the documents submitted to the Natural products Bank, the application will be reviewed for its duplicity with existing contracts or studies, chances of having an actual result through the utilization, and the need for a joint R&D effort. The result of the review is to be sent to the applicant once the review is completed.
03Notification of the results of reviews, preparation of contracts
  • Once the sale of the library is approved, the applicant shall prepare and submit a free-of-charge sales agreement for the library using the forms and templates of the Natural products Bank.
  • The terms and conditions of the agreement may be negotiable.
04Receiving the library
  • The libraries that are sold shall be, in principle, handed over in person. However, upon request from the applicant, the library can be sent via post or courier.
  • However, any contamination, change, or damages, etc., that could happen to the library while being shipped shall be the liabilities of the applicant.
  • Before opening the sealing cover of a library plate that the applicant received, the applicant must spin down the plate, to prevent contamination of the product due to the materials running down when the cover is opened.
  • The applicant shall check for any issues or defects of the libraries that it received and, if any such issues or defects are found, contact the person in charge at the National Institute of Korean Medicine Development via phone or email immediately to confirm any defects or anomalies. If there are no issues or defects with the product, the applicant shall submit a written confirmation of the receipt to the person in charge.
05Achievement of results
  • The applicant shall, within three months from the date of shipping, submit a report on how the applicant plans to use the results from the utilization of the library. However, the date by which the said report shall be submitted may be postponed to a total of six months maximum. And, the applicant shall submit the said report of the results of utilization by the agreed deadline.
  • The number of libraries sold each time shall be one plate for a single study project. If the applicant wishes to have more than one plate, the desired amount and purpose shall be specified in the application, and the acceptance of such a request shall be determined through mutual negotiation.

How to apply

Off-line application

  • 01Prepare and send an application for the sale of the library and the plan of utilization for the libraries sold free-of-charge to the person in charge.
  • 02The request for a free-of-charge sale shall be reviewed, and the result of the review will be notified.
  • 03The application for sale of library, free-of-charge library utilization plan, and an agreement for a free-of-charge sale of the library shall be prepared and signed. Then, one signed set (with two copies of the agreement with a seal and between-pages-stamps) shall be sent to the National Institute of Korean Medicine Development.

    (After the imprinting of the seal and between-pages-stamps by the Institute, one copy will be sent back to the applicant.)

  • 04As a principle, the library shall be collected in person. However, it is still possible to receive one via post. (It is recommended to use the plate after spinning it down.) Once the library is received, a written confirmation of reception shall be submitted.

Online application (an application through the website of the Natural Products Bank)

  • To submit an online application, the applicant must sign up as a member at the website as follows;
    • Log in/Choose the applicable library set/Apply/ Go to the application page. / Fill out the application and plans / Apply (still being applied to).
    • A party that applied online may monitor the progress of the application in the My Page menu.
